The Youth Job Corps (YJC) program is designed for youth 14-21 who are interested in career exploration and summer employment. The jobs created through the YJC provide needed community services during the summer months with work sites scattered throughout the City. Qualified candidates for this program will have the opportunity to work in a variety of industries.
- All applicants must be residents of Saint Paul
- Youth ages 14-21 are eligible to apply
- Youth who are thirteen may also apply if they will turn fourteen by June 14, 2010
- Household income must be at or below 80% of the metro area median income
- Applying to the YJC does not guarantee you employment
- Most jobs begin June 14, 2010 and end August 20, 2010
To Qualify for Youth Job Corps
- The applicant must qualify using the criteria above
- and submit an application.
- The application must be complete. The main reason youth do not qualify is because their application is not complete, or is completed incorrectly. Pay particular attention to page 4 of the application. All sections on page 4 must be completed accurately. Also, make sure there are signatures where required
- If application is received, and is complete, applicants will receive a letter to orientation.
- Applicants must attend orientation - following orientation, and IF positions are available, applicants will receive a letter for an interview. IF positions are not available, applicants will receive a postcard notifying them they are on a wait-list.
- Applicants receiving a letter will be invited to an interview for an available position. Applicants who received a post-card will be contacted ONLY IF a position becomes available.
Applicants who meet program qualifications and submit required materials will be selected on a first come - first served basis.
