The Forestry Unit of Parks and Recreation is responsible for over 124,000 public property trees throughout the city. As part of this responsibility, Forestry deals with boulevard and park tree planting, maintenance and removal, trimming, wood recycling and education.

  • All tree contractors working on private trees, stumps, and limbs larger than two inches in diameter in the City of Saint Paul shall be licensed by the Department of Safety and Inspection.  Additionally, all work on public property trees must be permitted by Saint Paul Forestry before work is scheduled.  Tree Permit Application
